ABOUT

Lia Waterreus

While completing my studies in civil engineering, I developed a keen interest in the sustainable aspects of my field. The height of my academic journey was marked by a dedicated focus on sustainability and cost control during the final phase of my civil engineering studies at the University of Applied Sciences in The Hague.

With experience at a large construction company, I have further engaged myself in the sustainable side of civil engineering, particularly in infrastructure and project development. This allowed me to witness the practical challenges and opportunities that arise in the industry. With the aim of finding a balance between price and quality, I sharpened my skills in devising tender strategies and successfully securing contracts.

In addition, I sought to challenge the perception that sustainable construction is more expensive. With the right tools, my mission is demonstrate that this does not always have to be the case. Through my work, I aimed to showcase innovative approaches and methodologies that not only prioritize sustainability but also prove cost-effective. Here, my goal was to challenge industry norms and contribute to a shift in the perception of sustainable construction practices, proving that they can be both environmentally responsible and economically viable.
